HOW TO BOOK:

Step 2 - Join the Soil Association and qualify for your Master Class absolutely FREE.

The Rising Sun Farm lies within the Rising Sun Country Park 8½ miles from Newcastle City Centre. It is located on the urban fringe and borders the historic town of Wallsend, also Battle Hill, Hadrian Park, Holystone and Benton. The farm is a social enterprise managed by the Rising Sun Farm Trust producing arable crops on 23 hectares, horticultural crops on 1 hectare, and grazing and forage for a livery of more than 30 horses. Additional areas are managed as grass clover leys, green manure and wildlife food crops. The young woodland plantations are used as a recreational and wildlife resource.



Hive Talkin’
Bee-keeping for Beginners
Spend a day learning basic skills and developing your knowledge about bee-keeping. Trousers, boots or 'wellies' need to be worn. This event is a Soil Association 'Masterclass', aimed at adults and will be hosted by the farm and will include: Background To Beekeeping, What You Need To Start, The Beekeepers Year, The Natural History Of The Honeybee, Handling Bees, Swarming & Increasing Your Colonies, Products Of The Hive, With Some Recipes, Health, Pests & Nuisances. Pre-booking is essential.

Go On a Hen Do!
Chicken keeping with farm manager Mark Tutton. Would you love to keep a few chickens but don’t know where to begin? This course will provide you with all you need to know, including:
