Growing Communities is an inspiring social enterprise run by local people in Hackney. After starting life as a Community Supported Agriculture scheme linking members to a farm in Buckinghamshire, Growing Communities now lays claim to three unique urban growing spaces in Stoke Newington. As well as providing a vegetable box scheme to local residents it also hosts London’s only all-organic farmers’ market. Now in its fourteenth year, Growing Communities is opening up its urban market gardens and sharing the secrets of its success to all wishing for a vegetable plot of their own.

Ready, Steady, GROW! - Organic fruit and vegetable growing: getting started
Ru Litherland, Growing Communities' Head Grower, will host a day’s introduction to growing organic fruit and vegetables. Starting with an overview of the principles of organic gardening, the day will cover aspects of growing from soil types and composting to sowing, planting plans, garden design and pest/weed management. With plenty of opportunity to get your hands dirty and to taste how delicious the results are with an organic lunch provided, the day will fast track your plans for home grown fruit and vegetables.
